Hon. Soita Shitanda,MP - Minister
Profile
Hon. Soita Shitanda, the Minister for Housing was born on 9th November 1958 in Western Province.

He enrolled at Tande Primary School in 1967 and completed in 1973 when he did his Certificate of Primary Examinations (CPE). In 1974, Shitanda joined Malava Boys Secondary School and did his Kenya Certificate of Education (KCE) in 1977.

Shitanda went to Kenya Polytechnic from 1978 to 1979 when he completed his Accounts Course (ACNC) stages one and two. He later, from 1983 to 1984 joined Strathmore College for a CPA 1 Course. From 1993 to 1996, Shitanda enrolled as a distance learner at Newport University when he graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA).

He started working as an Accounts Trainnee in the Attorney-General’s Chambers in 1983 and from 1982 to 1997, Shitanda worked in the Ministry of Finance under the Head of Accountancy Services in various capacities in the Accounts Department. He also worked at the Investment promotion Centre as an Accountant
from 1991 to 1997.

In 1997, Shitanda resigned and ventured into the opposition politics where he successfully contested the Malava Parliamentary seat on a Ford Kenya ticket and recaptured it in 2002. While in Parliament, he served as a Member of the Finance, Planning and Trade Committee from 1998 to 2992. from 2003 to June 2004 he served as the Chairman in the same Committee and also as a Member of the Sugar Parliamentary Committee and a Member of the Forum.
